That was absolutely new betweeen Wiesbaden and Koblenz: Rotary
helps with flowers. The Rotary Club of St. Goarshausen - Loreley had the idea to sow sunflowers at
a very busy road. Aside the sown stripe of 120 x 6 meters was a part of the old road, so parking
was optimized. The soil and an advertising board had been sponsored by the farmer and by a local
company.
Everyone passing by could pick as many flowers as he/she liked, and donate some money to the cash. The ideal amount was 1 € per blossom - enough to immunize one child. Thanks to reports in the local newspaper and favoured by the location the field of sunflowers got known very soon.
The result may be shown: more than 1.700 € is a very good return for a rural Rotary Club.
